About the Department:-

         Department of English  was established since the establishment of the college in 1992. It mainly aims at  imparting  English language and literature  both in Higher Secondary  and Under-Graduate levels..The Major/ Honours  Course was  introduced in the year 2002  to educate the students in both artistry and utility of the English language through the study of literature and other contemporary forms of culture in wider perspective. 

   Vision  and Mission of the Department: -  

                    The Vision of the  Department  is to develop e the department as a centre of academic excellence through  teaching-learning and research that encourages and nurtures literary sensibilities, language competence and critical  thinking. 

                     The Mission of the   Department is  to acquaint  students with contemporary trends in English  literature and language. It aims at creating  holistic, analytical and critical perspective and facilitate  students’ active and positive participation and contribution to the society.

                       The Objectives of the  Department are closely related to those of the  University as a whole, but  also reflect  the special nature of our discipline and commitment  in enhancing  appreciation and enjoyment of literature by the students.

Outreach Activities, Village Adoption, Observance of Important Days:-

The Department of English incorporates with the college in the programmes such as outreach activities and village adoption namely Borimuri Bodo Gaon and the observance of important days as set by the concerned authority

Alumni Activities:-

Apart from the Alumni Association of the college, the Department has a sister organization called Alumni Association, Department of English, LKM. The association was formed in 2018 under the  Sri Ranjan Barman as the President and  Sri Himangshu Boruah as the Secretary. 

           The Alumni Association of the Department has donated a wall clock and 15 nos. of books to the Departmental Library in 2020.
