Department of History

Profile:

The Department of History under Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya was established in 1992, the year of establishment of the college itself. The Department completes its glorious thirty two years with its contribution towards teaching in the discipline of History. The Department of History was founded to impart knowledge in History ranging from Ancient to Present age as well as to enable the students to assess the values and achievements of their own age and to help resolve our contemporary social and individual problems. Also trying its level best to teach, popularize the Subject with student centric approach. The Department has produced a good number of alumni who are engaging in different sectors.

Vision:

The Vision of the Department is to impart quality education to students and create interest in history-related subjects in higher education to make them more competent and competitive.

Mission:

(i) To provide relevant, up-to-date and career oriented education in History

(ii)To enable  the students to perceive the concepts like time, place and society.

(iii)To   create opportunities for students to acquiring rational knowledge of History.

(iv)To make responsible human resources who can contribute to Nation integrity.

(v) To promote awareness about historical aspects as responsible citizen.

Facilities-

The Department has a mini library with computer and internet facility .Department   also conducts fields study and spot visit to various historical places of importance to enhance primary knowledge.

Extension activity –

        (i)On  4^th February , 2020  the Department  of History  of  Lakhimpur  Kendriya  Mahavidyalaya      organized a  historical  trip  to  the  river  island  Majuli.

(ii) A visit  to a historical  place  of  Habung  on  23^rd  January, 2022. The  trip  was  quite  beneficial  for  the  students  as  they  got  to  know  about  the  history  of  Habung  and  witnessed  its  archaeological  remains. On  the  same  day  students  were  also  taken  to  NHPC, Gerukamukh to  give  them  an  idea  about  this  power  project.

(iii)     On  26^th  March, 2023  the  Department  of  History  of  Lakhimpur  Kendriya  Mahavidyalaya  organized  an  educational  trip  to  this  archaeological  place  of  Biswanath  Ghat.

        (iv) Department Published a  Wall Magazine “Itihaas Prabah” every year.
