Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya, a pioneer higher educational institution in the region, was established in 1992. On strong demand from all sections of society, precipitated by genuine necessity, the selfless, untiring efforts of devoted well-wishers and educationists led to the establishment of this institution. In the passage of time, the college was brought under the deficit system of grant-in-aid in 1998, followed by the Registration under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956 in 2000, and finally, the college was brought under Assam College Employees (Provincialization) Act in 2005. This dynamic college also took the leading role in clustering seven rural-based colleges of this region (namely RC 7) not only to exchange views and ideas in academic fields but also to work as a force to impart and enrich knowledge in higher education and enlighten the region. Located on National Highway – 52 at Charaimoria about 3 km from North Lakhimpur town, the college campus is spread over 14. 826 acres of lush green environs to offer an idyllic atmosphere for aspiring students to develop their innate physical and mental faculties.
