Departmental Profile:- Department of Sociology

 

  The Department of Sociology, Lakhimpur Kenriya Mahavidyalaya was started in 1992. The introduction of Sociology Department at Under Graduate Level in Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya has created a new dimension in the growth and development of Sociology under Dibrugarh University. As a Queen of social sciences the Department of Sociology is trying its level best to teach and popularise  the subject among the students. Since its inception, the Department with a view to imparting scientific knowledge in different dimensions of social phenomena and to encourage students to go for further empirical research. It may be mentioned here that Major course was introduced in the session 1996-1997( getting permission to introduce Major in Sociology from Dibrugarh University).

#  Our  devotion  is to impart best quality teaching through which students will earn research based knowledge and understanding of the society in a global perspective.

#  Our vision is to excel  in the study of social problems from the sociological point of view and to contribute community development services and stress on sustainable development in our society.

MISSION:

# Students of Sociology Department will gather their knowledge in terms of critical thinking and learn to operate sociological tools to understand multiplex social issues and social structure.

# Our mission is to progress on personal  growth and maintain professional  development of our students in various government and non-government sectors.
