DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL  SCIENCE AT A GLANCE

The department of Political Science under Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya was established in 1992, the year of establishment of the college itself. The University of Dibrugarh accorded permission for starting Degree course in the subject in 1993, obtained Government concurrence in 1995 and permanent affiliation from the University of Dibrugarh in 2000.Thedepartment completes its glorious thirty one years of its presence with its contribution towards teaching in the discipline of Political Science. As a social science the department is trying its level best to teach, popularize and make learning a worthwhile interactive experience with stress on student centric approach. It has produced a good number of alumni who are well in different spheres of public life.

3. Facilities:

i) Departmental Library: The department has a small library. A very good students-teachers relation revolves around the use departmental library. The department does not have linkage to any library. Learning resources are centrally provided by the M C Roy Library, Lakhimpur Kendnya Mahavidyalaya.

ii)Departmental Assistance.

I .For the benefit of the needy students the department  provides books from the departmental Library under custody of the concerned teacher.

2. The department trying to  extend financial help to the poor and meritorious students of the department.

4.Extension Activities:

i) Conducted a field trip to Majuli to make a Survey on Political awareness of the people living there, on 19-10 2016.

ii) The department has its forum called "RAJNITI VIGYAN CHOURA "consisting of students of the department. Through the activities of this forum students learn Organizational skills, Leadership skills, Financial management and Lessons of Democracy. The forum organizes departmental freshmen social, farewell to outgoing students, Teachers Day etc. Apart from these, it also organizes Group discussion on course oriented topic, symposium, Quiz competition from time to time.

iii) Students of the department under the guidance of teacher participate in various activities like NSS, Sports, Cultural and Literary programmes in the college week. The department has achieved "Best Department" Award in the College Week, 2016-17

iv) Students of the department also engage in literary activities such as annual publication of the departmental wall magazine called "PRATIDDHANI' and college Magazine" PRATYUSH"

The department is Involved in other activities generating awareness on human rights violation, Environment pollution etc. As a Pan of awareness programme, students of the

v) Department under the guidance of faculty members observed World Human Rights Day at Seajuli Naharani Maj Gaon, Lakhimpur,on Dec.2013.

Vi) The department has been celebrating various national and international events such as International Women’s day International Human Rights day, National Voters’ day, Constitutional day etc. as a part of  regular activities
